Hyderabad: Describing yoga as the ‘panacea’ for all ills, Governor of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh E.S.L. Narasimhan on Sunday said that it taught people restraint and control over emotions.

“Although I have been restrained all my life, regular practise of yoga the past 45 days has given me better control over my emotions. Considering my job, I can find time between 5.05 a.m. and 6.15 a.m. and no other time of the day for it,” he said, in an aside with presspersons at Raj Bhavan after a programme held to mark International Yoga Day.

In the massive expanse of Darbar Hall, participants who included the Governor and the First Lady of Telangana and AP, senior officials and

others were led through a 30-minute basic yoga schedule by trainer Ravi Kishore. After the session, Mr. Narasimhan and his wife Vimala played graciously-perfect hosts, guiding the staff to serve glasses of juice to the participants and presspersons.

“My wife Vimala has been practising for a longer duration though. If my work is tough, my wife’s job is even more, for she has to prepare the right food for me,” he said, cautiously appearing to avoid any questions that were in any way related to politics in the joint capital for the two States. Recalling the guru Mr. Ravi Kishore’s words, he said yoga helped people increase flexibility and vitality while improving immunity.
