Surgery can be a nerve-wracking and anxiety-inducing experience for many even if it's only a minimally invasive procedure.

Patients can lose their cool and even have breakdowns moments before a surgical procedure.  Therefore, doctors are expected to do everything in their power to keep them calm and composed.

But sometimes, the emotions and anxieties of patients cannot be controlled or suppressed.

Charging someone for that burst of emotion is a whole different story that needs to be talked about.

That's exactly what this story from the US is all about.

A woman has claimed she was charged money for crying during her surgery. Her revelation on Twitter has now prompted a huge outcry and raised questions about the intricacies and processes of the American healthcare system.

The woman, who goes by the name Midge and handle @mxmclain on Twitter, shared a

photo of the invoice she received from the hospital following her basic mole removal procedure. The bill had a breakdown of all the charges. However, one of the particulars named 'Brief Emotion' was for $11.

Shocked by the unexpected extra charge, the woman decided to highlight it on TWitter. Her tweet has now garnered over 107 lakh likes, 8,000 retweets, and some colourful replies.

The bill states that $223 was charged for the main procedure. But the extra $11 has left netizens baffled. Some even joked about it and drew comparisons with Aerosmith's songs like 'Crying' and 'Sweet Emotions'

A Twitter user replied, "I can't tell if this is an amazing satire or another example of ridiculous medical billing shenanigans."

"This accurately describes the American healthcare system," wrote another.

"To think i was just experiencing emotions for free this entire time," quipped another user
