Sachar Committee report should be implemented: Muslim leaders

Muslim leaders on Thursday demanded implementation of the Sachar Committee report.

Addressing a seminar on ‘Ten years of Sachar Committee Report’, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind leader Maulana Mahmood Madani said the condition of Muslims in India has worsened during the past 10 years.Referring to global terrorism, Madani said that the Muslims are being accused of crimes they have not committed and urged the Muslim youth to concentrate on education for their all-round development.

presided over the seminar. “The plight of Muslims in India has been deteriorating fast in current years. They are not being heard,” said Nayar.

The report had also recommended establishment of Equal Opportunity Commission (EOC) to prevent discrimination against minorities in the private sectors like housing and employment, said some of the intellectuals who participated in the seminar. They added that the EOC can be set up by the state governments without taking permission from the Central government.
