Rajnath Singh attends Nashik Kumbh Mela

Nashik: The much awaited Kumbhmela at Nashik the Kumbhmela begins on Tuesday morning at 6.16 a.m. In Nashik the Kumbh mela is referred to as Simhastha Kumbhmela.

The event started with the flag hoisting of the Simhastha Kumbhmela. The flag hoisting at Trimbakeshwar was done in the presence of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Rajnath Singh also offered special prayers during the early hours after the flag hoisting. In Trimbakeshwar the procession began at 3pm with much fan fare. It passed through the lanes of the temple town and reached



Kushawarta.

In Nashik, the procession began from Kalaram temple with the aarti of Prabhu Ramchandra. The procession which has 20 tableaus was accompanied by lazim, dhol, music, band groups. Many organisations, social and spiritual participated in the procession. The pujan and start of the procession was done by Mahant Gyandas maharaj in the chief presence of many Mahants and sadhus.

The procession filled the environment with sentiments of piousness and chanting of the slogans. It was welcomed at places with huge rangolis and flower showers. The procession reached Ramkund where the Mahaaarti of the river Godavari was done.
