Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has arrived in New Delhi yesterday with an aim to deepen bilateral ties in a range of areas including trade and investment. Minister for Planning Rao Inderjit Singh recieved him at the airport.
He is accompanied by a high-level delegation which includes key Ministers, Members of Parliament and senior officials. During his five-day visit to India, Mr Loong will call on President Pranab Mukherjee and hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is also scheduled to call on the visiting dignitary.
During the visit, Singapore Prime Minister will today hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to explore ways to further bolster ties



between the two countries. Singapore is India’s second largest investor, especially in the power and port sectors.
Both the Prime Minister will witness the signing of an MoU on cooperation in industrial property between the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, and Singapore's Intellectual Property Office. The MoU will enhance bilateral cooperation activities in the arena of Industrial Property Rights of Patents, Trademarks and Industrial Designs.
The two countries will also sign pact to set up a North East Skills Centre in Assam between the Assam government and Singapore’s Institute of Technical Education Services. The Singapore Prime Minister will also visit Udaipur in Rajasthan on Wednesday and Thursday.
