Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the ‘Guest of Honour’ at the Maldives’s 60th Independence Day celebrations in the capital, Malé today. The Prime Minister is on a State visit to the Maldives at the special invitation of President Mohamed Muizzu. Yesterday, speaking at a state banquet hosted in his honour by President Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, Prime Minister Modi expressed his gratitude for the invitation and extended his best wishes to the people of the Maldives on their Independence Day.

on the occasion, Maldives President congratulated Prime Minister Modi on becoming the second longest-serving Prime Minister of India. He praised Mr Modi’s leadership and reaffirmed the strong ties between India and the Maldives. He asserted that India has long stood as the Maldives’ closest and most trusted partner. He added that their collaboration spans a wide range of areas, from security and trade to healthcare, education and beyond, touching the everyday lives of their citizens.
