Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Sikkim Organic festival at Saramsa near Gangtok this morning. Hilly State Sikkim is the first state of the country which got status of organic state where most of its farm land has been converted into certified organic land. Yesterday Mr Modi also released a logo 'Sikkim Organic" for state's mission mode organic programmes.

The Prime Minister will leave for Assam in a shortwhile from now. He will attend a public meeting at Kokrajhar and a youth rally in Guwahati today. Mr. Modi will also meet representatives of some civil society organizations in Guwahati. All preparations have been made for the maiden visit of the Prime Minister at Kokrajhar in Bodoland Territorial Council Area. Inspector General of Police L R Bishnoi said, all security measures have been taken in Kokrajhar and neighboring areas in the wake of 48 hours bandh call given by some organizations.

Union Sports Minister, DoNER Minister and Chief of Bodoland Territorial Council among others are expected to attend the rally at Kokrajhar. Bodoland People’s Front leader and MP Biswajit Daimary hoped that Prime Minister's visit will boost up the development process in Bodoland Territorial Council area. Bodoland People’s Front, the ruling party of the Bodoland Territorial Council has announced to support the BJP in upcoming Assam assembly polls
