Ahmedabad: The Patel quota protests leader Hardik Patel is gearing up for a reverse Dandi march, in a bid to take the agitation to the second phase. The march will begin from Dandi and conclude in Ahmedabad.

Dandi March led by Mahatma Gandhi in 1930 was an integral part of the Independent India and Hardik’s decision to take that route is viewed as smart strategy to strengthen the agitation and spread the message across the nation.

"Mahatma Gandhi held Dandi March on this route, starting from Sabarmati in Ahmedabad and concluding

at Dandi in south Gujarat. Walking on the 350-km route, we will hold our own 'Patidar Anamat Kooch'," said Dinesh Patel, Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) committee member.

On Monday, Dinesh and Hardik were together to launch fresh round of protests, demanding reservations to the Patel community under OBC category.

The marchers will walk the same route of Gandhi, but in reverse way. They will walk from Dandi to Ahmedabad. According to the tentative plans, the march will be held either on Sept 5 or 6.
