Notification for 2nd phase of Assam assembly polls to be issued today

In Assam, the notification for the second phase of assembly elections will be issued today. In this phase, polling will be held on 11th of next month for 61 seats in Central and Lower Assam. The formal poll process will begin with the issuance of notification for second phase. 22nd of this month will be the last day of making nominations in this phase.

style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on 24th while 26th of March is the last day of withdrawal of nominations. Nearly 12 thousand 700 polling booths will be set up in this phase. Gauhati East assembly where poll will be held in the second phase is the only constituency where all polling booths will be set up in urban areas. All the political parties have intensified their campaigning to woo voters.
