Mumbai: Revelations in the Sheena Bora Murder case have been taking sharp turns ever since it was first reported in the media three days ago. Looks like Mumbai police’s intense investigation is now on the right track as Rakesh Maria said that Indrani Mukherjea’s former husband Sanjeev Khanna has confessed to the crime.

While the police recovered skeletal remains of a human body from Pen forest in Raigad district, Sanjeev Khanna, Indrani Mukerjea's second husband, admitted to his role in the crime.

Talking to reporters late on Friday, Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria said, "This morning skeletal remains of Sheena Bora were recovered. Her passport was also recovered from Dehradun. This negates the theory that she went to the US."

"We interrogated the third accused (Sanjeev Khanna) and he has confessed to his complicity in the crime.

Further investigation is on. We interrogated Mikhail and he also gave us some vital details. We are verifying those," Maria said.

"Tomorrow we shall be dispatching the skeletal remains of the deceased for DNA tests," Maria added.

All the three accused Indrani Mukerjea, Sanjeev Khanna and her driver Shyam Rai were jointly interrogated by Mumbai police officials with Maria leading the probe. Sanjeev Khanna was also taken to the spot in Raigad district where Sheena's body was dumped, earlier in the day.

Khanna has been charged with murder, kidnapping, criminal conspiracy, destroying evidence and more. His mobile phone, laptop and passport have been seized but he has denied the police charges.

According to police, the macabre deed was allegedly executed by Indrani with help from Khanna and driver Rai.
