Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who is leading an all-party delegation in Panama today, reaffirmed India’s firm stance against terrorism and underlined that the country will not turn the other cheek and will respond to any further attack.
Speaking at an event organised by the Indian Embassy in Panama, Mr Tharoor said, the ghastly terror attack in Pahalgam was in pursuance of a cynical set of objectives that the Pakistani military wants to pursue to undermine the Kashmiri economy, which was booming with tourism and also India.
The delegation also met the President of the Republic of Panama, José Raúl Mulino. The multi-party delegation also interacted with the Panama Assembly President, Dana Castaneda.
In South Africa, the all-party delegation led by NCP (SCP) Supriya Sule had meetings in the South African Parliament and with Ministers of the South African Government. Talking to the media. Ms Sule said the Ministers promised to stand with India. She also highlighted that India has had deep bilateral relations with South Africa.
Another delegation led by BJP MP Baijayant Panda interacted with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel Bin Ahmed al Jubeir in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. During the meeting, Mr Panda underlined the importance of coordinated action against terrorism and dismantling terrorist infrastructure. The delegation also met the Deputy. Speaker Dr. Mishaal Al-Sulami and Chair of the India Saudi Arabia Friendship Committee Major General Abdulrahman Alharbi. The delegation conveyed India’s strong position against terrorism and discussed bilateral cooperation.
Talking to the media, a BJP MP, P Baijayant Panda, said, India and Saudi Arabia have a long relationship for centuries, which has now become very strong. He also said that India is on the same page as Saudi Arabia, and the closeness is a good sign in the fight against cross-border terrorism sponsored by Pakistan.
In Rome, another all-party delegation led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad held a meeting with the President of the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee of
the Senate, Stefania Craxi. The delegation further interacted with the India-Italy Parliamentary Friendship Group, chaired by Senator Giulio Terzi di Sant’Agata in Rome.
Talking to the media, BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad said, there was a commonality of understanding about India and Italy regarding the cancer of global terror. He added that India and Italy have a good relationship with each other.
Another multi-party delegation led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde arrived in Sierra Leone after concluding their visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The All-Party Parliamentary Delegation, led by JD (U) MP Sanjay Jha, met Arief Havas Oegroseno, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia. The delegation has so far visited Japan, South Korea and Singapore as part of India’s global outreach against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. The delegation met with the Vice-Chairperson of the Committee for Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation, Muhammad Husein Fadlulloh, and the Chairperson of the Indonesia-India Parliamentary Friendship Group, Muhammad Rofiqi, to sensitise them on India’s strong commitment against terrorism.
The Indonesian side conveyed that they condemn terrorism and believe in dialogue to solve problems. They supported India’s zero-tolerance approach. Muhammad Husein Fadlulloh told the media that they discussed the relationship between Indonesia and India. He said terrorism is something that his country does not want in the world.
Sanjay Jha led a delegation that called on the Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, and briefed him on the Pahalgam terror attack. The Secretary General condemned all forms and acts of terrorism..
Another all-party parliamentary delegation led by DMK MP Kanimozhi was received in Greece by a Greek Parliamentary delegation. Speaking on the occasion, she thanked Greece for standing with India and condemning terrorism,m saying terrorism does not stop at Indian soil alone. The Parliamentary delegation also met the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece.
