External affairs minister S Jaishankar will participate in a meeting of the SCO Contact Group on Afghanistan in Dushanbe today. He met his Afghan counterpart Haneef Atmar yesterday and discussed the latest developments in Afghanistan against the backdrop of a violent campaign by the Taliban to take control of territory.
Dr Jaishankar and Mr Atmar met in the Tajikistan capital of Dushanbe on the margins of a meeting of foreign ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The meeting will discuss the achievements of the organization as it celebrates the 20th Anniversary of its formation in this year. 

It will also assess the preparation for the upcoming SCO Council of Heads of States meeting and exchange views on current international and regional issues. Dr Jaishankar arrived in Dushanbe on a two-day visit to Tajikistan yesterday.
