Rome: External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar has said that it is important for countries to build more reliable and resilient supply chains to combat challenges. 

Addressing the Joint Session of the Senate's External Affairs and Defence Commission in Rome, Dr. Jaishankar said that when India looks at its key partners, the European Union and especially Italy rank very high in terms of political and technological cooperation. He said almost 750 Italian companies have invested more than 6.3 billion dollars in foreign investment in India. Dr. Jaishankar welcomed both Italy and the European Union's greater interest in the Indo-Pacific.

expressed his concerns with regard to the ongoing global conflicts and advocated for non-escalation. He further added Italy and India should be working together to ensure re-globalization, and the creation of more centers of production. The Minister said India, Italy, and the European Union should work closely to ensure trust and transparency in the digital domain. 

Highlighting the strong ties with Italy, Dr. Jaishankar said that India has always found great support from Italy in various big initiatives. He said that India is a very open-minded partner, a partner willing to work with Italy in creating a better world.
