Delhi, Apr 23 (UNI) Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami on Thursday moved the Supreme Court seeking quashing of FIRs lodged against him over his alleged remarks against Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi during a live TV show.

As per a circular posted on Apex Court's website, a bench of Justices DY Chandrachud and MR Shah will hear the matter through video conferencing at 1030 hrs on Friday.
As many as 16 separate FIRs have been registered against Goswami in Maharashtra, Madhya



Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Jammu and Kashmir.
During a live debate on Tuesday on TV channel Republic TV, Goswami allegedly tried to defame Ms. Gandhi by questioning her silence Palghar silence and making remarks on her country of origin Italy.

Goswami and his wife were allegedly attacked by two unknown men on Wednesday night in Mumbai when they were returning home from work. Later, the senior journalist has lodged an FIR over the incident, and subsequently, two persons were arrested.
