Tuesday, 30 December 2014 New Delhi Agency : leader Sitaram Yechury on Tuesday termed the acquittal of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah in the 2005 Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case as a 'real fake encounter'.The Rajya Sabha member said, "This sought of discharging is what I would call a real fake encounter where the cases have been dropped despite all the evidence." Lashing out at the functioning of the CBI, he said that, "It functions under the PMO and obviously there is been influence on this, so the case should be taken up to a



higher level and justice must be done".Meanwhile, Congress leader Rashid Alvi termed the CBI's decision as extremely unfortunate. He alleged that the Centre is pressurising the premiere investigating agency to come up with such decisions.In a major relief to BJP president Amit Shah, a special CBI court in Mumbai earlier in the day acquitted him in the 2005 Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case. The CBI had charged Shah, the then Minister of State for Home in Gujarat, as an accused in the killing of gangster Sohrabuddin Sheikh and Tulsiram Prajapati.
