Ajmer: The Khawaja Ghareeb Nawaz shrine in Ajmer was evacuated on Monday after authorities received intel of a bomb threat reported The Times of India.

The authorities sealed off the shrine and combed through the entire compound using explosive detecting equipment. The police concluded that the call was a hoax after one and a half hours of search and the shrine was reopened.

Close to one lakh pilgrims who

had gathered at the shrine to observe the monthly ritual of 'Chatti Sharief' were evacuated.

Bhupendra Singh, SHO, Dargah Thana, was quoted in Times of India saying, "Dargah was closed down from 7.45am till 9.15am due to search operation. It was re-opened as we found nothing during the search. We are investigating who are behind the call."

The entire area has been put on high alert.
