550 govt websites hacked in 3 yrs

Over 550 incidents of hacking of government websites were reported in the past three years, including 39 in the first two months of 2017, Lok Sabha was informed on Tuesday.

According to the information provided by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), a total number of 155, 164 and 199 websites



of the Union and state governments were hacked during 2014, 2015 and 2016, respectively, apart from the 39 already reported in 2017, up until February.

Minister of State for Home Affairs Hansraj Ahir said the government has constituted an expert group to study the gaps and challenges in handling cyber crimes.
