Apr 24, 2015(Agencies) : Five dacoits posing as policemen robbed 60 gold biscuits worth over Rs 16 crore belonging to an Andheri firm from a van near Nashik on the Mumbai-Agra highway early on Friday. Each biscuit weighed 1kg.The biscuits were being sent by the firm to its Shirpur gold refinery in Dhule district in the van which belongs to Sequel Logistics, also from Andheri.Around 3am, five or six men in a white car intercepted the van near Wadivare, around 16km from Nashik. Claiming to be policemen, they told the transporter's employees—the driver, two security personnel and a delivery assistant—that they suspected they were carrying stolen goods. The accused beat up the employees, threatened them with a pistol and tied them up

in the vehicle. They then fled with the gold biscuits, said the police."The entire incident took place in 15-20 minutes," said Prashant Mohite, additional superintendent of police (Nashik rural). "We got a call on the police emergency number around 3.20pm from the employees. Police personnel were deployed at various checkpoints across the district. The police in other districts were also alerted."The Wadivare police said that Sequel Logistics usually delivers valuable cargo to different locations. "We are checking if the van made regular trips to the gold refinery and if anyone was keeping a watch on the vehicle," said a police officer. The police refused to give further information, but said special teams have been formed to trace the car.
