Youth Arrested for Filming Woman in Hostel Washroom in Chennai

A 21-year-old man was arrested for allegedly filming a 24-year-old woman on his mobile phone while she was using the washroom at a women’s hostel in Kandanchavadi, Taramani.
Police said the woman, a native of Dharmapuri district, works at an IT company in Kandanchavadi and stays at a women’s hostel in the Perungudi-Kandanchavadi area.
According to the complaint, the woman returned to the hostel after work on the night of September 24 and went to the washroom. She allegedly noticed a man filming her through a window using a mobile
phone.

When she raised an alarm, other women at the hostel joined her in chasing the suspect, but he managed to escape.
The woman subsequently lodged a complaint with the J-13 Taramani police, seeking action against the unidentified man. Police registered a case and launched an investigation.
A police team examined CCTV footage from the area and traced the suspect. The accused was identified as Jebish, a native of Kayathar in Thoothukudi district, and was arrested on September 25. Police also seized the mobile phone allegedly used in the offence.
