A 52-year-old woman who recently arrived from South Sudan has been placed under observation at Kottayam Medical College Hospital after doctors suspected a possible Ebola infection.
The woman initially sought treatment for fever at a private hospital in Pala. Following concerns raised by medical staff, the Health Department intervened and transferred her to Kottayam Medical College Hospital for further evaluation.
She is
currently being monitored in a special isolation ward, and a dedicated medical team has been assigned to oversee her care. Hospital authorities stated that she does not exhibit other common symptoms typically associated with Ebola, although she has shown a slight variation in her fever.
Samples have been sent to a laboratory in Thiruvananthapuram for testing. A medical board will be formed to determine further treatment and management based on the findings.
