A woman allegedly murdered her husband with the help of her brother for opposing her extramarital relationship, DSP Nagaraju said on Friday. The incident occurred on Wednesday within the limits of Peddaraveedu mandal. Police said full details were gathered and disclosed during a press briefing.
The deceased, Adapala Lalu Sreenu (38) of Dornala, married Jhansi of Sunnipenta 17 years ago. The couple has three children. Sreenu worked as a lorry driver and had developed bad habits. Two months ago, he was remanded to Ongole jail in a ganja-selling case.
During this period, Jhansi allegedly developed an illicit relationship with her
brother’s friend, Surya Narayana, a car driver from Jammidornala. Police said Sreenu had threatened to kill them after coming out of jail, which led Jhansi to plan his murder.
She allegedly struck a deal with four persons from Guntur, paying ₹2 lakh as contract money. Attempts to kill Sreenu at Chimakurthy and Podili failed while he was returning on bail from Ongole.
Finally, near Ankalamman temple at Peddaraveedu, Sreenu was attacked after chilli powder was thrown into his eyes. Jhansi and her brother allegedly stabbed him with a knife brought in their car, killing him on the spot. Police said the accused themselves informed the police later.
