West Bengal chief minister Suvendu Adhikari informed on Thursday that the state police has been directed to hand over the illegal immigrants, not covered by the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), to the Border Security Force (BSF) for their deportation to Bangladesh instead of producing them at courts after catching them for infiltration.
He also ordered the police to send him a weekly report of such dispatch.
Mr Adhikari, who chaired an administrative meeting in Howrah during a visit, said, ?A
law has come into effect in the state to hand over the infiltrators to the BSF at the Bangladesh border instead of sending them to courts.
The Police Commissioner and Railway Protection Force have been clearly asked not to send illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, who are not covered by the CAA and caught at Howrah station, to courts.?
He added, ?They will, rather, make arrangements to send the infiltrators directly to Bongaon at Petrapole border or the Basirhat border outpost after feeding them well.
