In West Bengal, six junior doctors have started an indefinite hunger strike in Kolkata demanding justice for RG Kar Medical College rape and murder victim. Junior doctors have announced that they will continue with their protests by continuing with the medical services for the patients and fast-unto-death agitation in a parallel manner. The doctors started the hunger strike after the government failed to take any action on their 10-point demand put before the government.
The modus operandi of the parallel protest explained by a junior doctors front, will be that the six junior doctors will start
the fast-unto-death agitation, while the others will be dedicated to medical services at the different medical colleges and hospitals in the state. For the sake of transparency of their hunger strike, CCTV cameras will be installed at the hunger strike venue.
In another development, Baruipur Court has extended the police custody of Mustakin Sardar for seven days in the alleged rape and murder case of a class IV student at Jaynagar in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. The child was found dead in a marshy land in the early hours of 5th October.
