After Murshidabad, West Bengal's South 24 Parganas saw clashes during a protest against the Waqf (Amendment) Act 2025. Eight cops were injured, a police van and bikes were vandalised, and two people were arrested in connection with the fresh violence, sources said.

The development came after similar violence broke out recently in West Bengal's Murshidabad, in which three people were killed and several injured during an anti-Waqf Act

protest. The violence also took place in Suti, Dhulian, and Jangipur during the same time.

A case has been registered and raids are currently underway to nab the remaining accused, officials confirmed.

According to news agency PTI, the clash erupted when police stopped ISF supporters from heading to attend an anti-Waqf (Amendment) Act rally in Kolkata, addressed by party leader and Bhangar MLA Naushad Siddique.
