In Jharkhand, more than 52 lakh 22 thousand voters will cast their vote during the first phase of three-tier Panchayat Elections to be held today in 72 blocks of the state. All preparations for the polls are in place by the State Election Commission and district administrations of 21 districts going for the first phase of polling.

Polling for the first phase of three-tier Panchayat elections in 72 blocks of 21 districts of Jharkhand have started today from 7 am in the morning. Panchayat elections are being held for the third time in the state, while voting will be done through



ballot paper. This time ballot paper of four colors are used in Panchayat elections.

This includes white, pink, green and yellow ballot papers. In the first phase, more than fourteen thousand 79 candidates are contesting for the posts of Gram Panchayat member, one thousand 127 posts of Mukhiya, one thousand 405 posts of Panchayat Samiti member and 146 posts of District Council members.

Polling parties have been dispatched to respective centres. Counting for the first phase of polls will be done on May 17.
