Vizag Steel Plant Explosion Toll Rises To Nine

The death toll from the Vizag Steel Plant explosion has risen to nine, following the death of another worker on Wednesday.

"The latest casualty is identified as Pydiraju, who succumbed to burns at 8.17 am this morning," Visakhapatnam district joint collector G Vidhyadhari stated. 

She said the body was shifted to King George Hospital in the port city for post-mortem. Later, Pydiraju's body was handed over to his family members. Pydiraju was one of the two workers

Meanwhile, the bodies of all eight workers killed in the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant accident have been handed over to their families following the completion of postmortem and other formalities, a senior health official said on Wednesday. 

Eight workers died, and six others sustained injuries in a blast and subsequent fire at the Steel Melt Shop-1 of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) during casting operations involving molten steel on Monday evening.
