Though the continuing rains in the Nilgiris have dampened the Deepavali spirit, the launch of Vetri special vegetables hamper scheme has come as a big relief to the hill residents amid rising prices for vegetables.

With this novel scheme, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay has touched the hearts of families, especially the middle and low income groups during the festival time,

ensuring good quality and fresh vegetables at an affordable price, much lower than the open market rates.

Each kit contains 500 grams of onion, 500 grams of tomato, 250 grams of brinjal, 250 grams of potato, 200 grams of carrot, 200 grams of beans, 100 grams of green chilli, 100 grams of lemon, 50 grams of ginger and around 400 to 450 grams of coconut. The price of the vegetable hamper is Rs 100.
