A woman in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad has alleged that her husband subjected her to physical and mental torture in an attempt to make her look like Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi.
Shanu alias Shanvi said that her husband Shivam Ujjwal, a government physical education teacher, forced her to exercise for three hours daily. When she failed to comply due to fatigue or health issues, he allegedly denied her food for days.
She alleged that her husband repeatedly expressed dissatisfaction, claiming his life was ruined because he could have married someone like Nora Fatehi. Her complaint levelled allegations of dowry harassment, domestic violence, miscarriage, threats, and blackmail against her husband and
in-laws.
The woman also accused her husband of watching objectionable pictures and videos of other women, and claimed that when she objected, he beat her into silence. She further alleged that her mother-in-law, father-in-law, and sister-in-law mentally and physically tortured her, demanded dowry, and pressured her to bring expensive items like clothes, an oven, and jewelry from her maternal home.
The couple was married in March 2025 in Ghaziabad in a lavish ceremony, with total expenses amounting to approximately Rs 76 lakh, including a Mahindra Scorpio worth Rs 24 lakh and Rs 10 lakh in cash. Despite this, she claimed that her in-laws made continuous demands for land, cash, and other valuables.
