Mumbai: Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smriti Irani yesterday said that the Centre has ensured that there is equal pay for equal work. Addressing the Femina FemTech conference in Mumbai, the Minister said the flow of funds under the 15th Finance Commission is now tied to gender justice.

Stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the first Prime Minister to issue a Menstrual Hygiene Administration Protocol, Mrs. Irani said the directive has



ensured that issues related to menstrual hygiene are no longer considered a taboo. She said the provision of sanitary pads at just one rupee across Jan Aushadi Kendras has also helped in the process.

Emphasizing the importance of learning in the mother tongue, the Minister said that students will be able to understand subjects like mathematics and science more easily, which in turn will strengthen their foundational learning.
