Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal informs around 25 crore people expected to participate in International Day of Yoga celebration

Union Minister for AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal, Sikkim chief minister PS Tamang and union minister of state for AYUSH Dr. Munjapara Mahendrabhai Kalubhai led Yoga Utsav celebrations today morning at Enchey Monastery in Gangtok in Sikkim as part of the countdown to the International Day of Yoga 2022.

Speaking after the event, Mr Sonowal said, Yoga has given a tremendous fillip to India’s stature on the global stage.  The minister credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts for International Day of Yoga celebration across the world on 21st of June every year. Mr. Sonowal



informed said that around 25 crore people are expected to take part in this year’s International Day of Yoga celebration.

He sought people’s participation to make yoga a part of our lives for an enriched life and at the same time contribute towards the soft power of India at the global stage.

The event was organized by the union Ayush ministry and Sikkim health and family welfare department as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, where common yoga protocol was performed in the presence of Sikkim health minister Dr. MK Sharma.
