New Delhi: Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri expressed confidence in the country's Green Hydrogen Policy and said India will produce 4 Metric Ton Green Hydrogen annually. He added that it will also accrue 1 lakh crore rupees of cumulative fossil fuel import savings by 2030. Attending the 11th  Confederation of Indian Industry Bio-Energy Summit in New Delhi yesterday, he said that for a country like India, it is also important to focus on availability and affordability in energy security.

Mr Puri expressed pride over setting up 2G refineries to make



ethanol from Parali and Bamboo to reduce pollution and achieve energy security goals. He further added that the country's ethanol blending in petrol has increased from 1.53 percent in the year 2013-14 to 10.17 percent in July 2022. 

Speaking on the country's carbon net zero emission by 2070, the Minister said that Public sector Oil Marketing Companies are already gearing up for the change in energy source and use. He informed that IOCL has a carbon zero target by 2046, and BPCL and HPCL aim at achieving this by 2040.
