Union Minister for Heavy Industries H.D Kumaraswamy launched the PM E-DRIVE Scheme in New Delhi yesterday. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister asserted that the initiative will accelerate electric vehicle (EV) adoption across the country and boost domestic innovation. The scheme has a financial outlay of ten thousand nine hundred crore rupees over two years.
Mr Kumaraswamy further revealed that nearly three thousand six hundred eighty crore rupees have been allocated for e-two-wheelers, e-three-wheelers, e-ambulances, e-trucks, and emerging
EVs.
He added that 500 crore rupees have been allocated for the deployment of e-ambulances, four thousand three hundred ninety-one crore rupees for procurement of nearly 14 thousand e-buses, and two thousand crore rupees outlay for installing fast chargers including various other allocations for electric vehicles.
The Minister also stated that Aadhar-authenticated e-vouchers will be introduced for EV buyers to avail of demand incentives. The e-vouchers will provide a seamless experience for both consumers and manufacturers.
