Bengaluru: Union Minister of State for Railways and Textiles Darshana Jardosh held a meeting with the Members of Parliament from Karnataka in Bengaluru yesterday to elicit their views on the ongoing central government projects. 

Addressing the media persons later, the Union minister said that close coordination and cooperation between the state and the Central government has helped speed up the implementation of ongoing projects in Karnataka. 

To the questions posed by the journalists, the minister replied that the Suburban railway project under implementation in Bengaluru will see progress soon.

She informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off an upgraded Vande Bharat 2 train between Gandhinagar and Mumbai on



September 30 and soon the service of Vande Bharat will be extended to other states too. This train has greater speed, better ride index, and a superior braking and regeneration system that will save 15 to 19 percent electricity. 

Mrs Jardosh said that railways in India is undergoing transformation and their utility is increasing in every sector. She pointed out that the opening of Gatishakti centres in the railways has helped speech up ongoing projects. During the media interaction, the General Manager of South Western Railways Sanjeev Kishore informed that the allocation of railway budget for Karnataka state has increased from 835 crore rupees between 2009 to 2014 to 3424 crore rupees between the years 2014 and 2023.
