Union Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi today inaugurated the sixth and new Regional Centre of Savitribai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development (SPNIWCD) in Ranchi, Jharkhand. Minister of State, WCD Savitri Thakur, MoS Defence and Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth, Hatia MLA Navin Jaiswal were also present on this occasion.

Addressing the gathering, the Union Minister said that the initiative taken by the WCD Ministry in starting the new regional centre will mark a major step in decentralising capacity-building efforts and improving service delivery in the Eastern region of the country. This will also provide a major boost to the development of Women and children and pave the way for a better future, and accomplish the



vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. 

The new regional centre will cater to the training and research needs of several initiatives like Mission Shakti, Mission Samarthya, Mission Vatsalya, Mission Saksham Anganwadi, Navya and Poshan 2.0 schemes, keeping the cultural diversity of Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, and West Bengal states intact.

Mrs Annapurna Devi mentioned that the new Regional Centre will also offer an Advanced Diploma Course in Child Guidance, Vocational training and Counselling to provide enhanced training to officials and frontline workers. She also said that 7 hostels for working women will be established in Jharkhand, out of which 2 will be present in Ranchi.
