Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray met prominent business and industry leaders yesterday to discuss a road map for making the state industrially and economically vibrant.

The Chief Minister also met eminent industry captains like Ratan Tata, Mukesh Ambani, Anand Mahindra, Adi Godrej, Sajjan Jindal, Uday Kotak, Deepak Parekh, Gautam Singhania, Manasi Kirloskar, Anand Piramal, Niranjan Hiranandani and Baba Kalyani among others.

The event was organized in association with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Mumbai.

Mr Thackeray said, his government will not allow a single industrial unit to shift out of the state and assured to create conducive environment for their growth. He said, the State Government is willing to discuss if there is a need to improve and upgrade the current concessions in the industrial sector.

But, employment generation has to be the



responsibility of all.

This was Mr Thackeray's first interaction with India Inc after taking charge on 28th of November as head of the Shivsena- NCP-Congress Government. The interaction was meant to suggest a road map towards building a progressive and globally-competitive Maharashtra.

The industry captains too gave the Chief Minister several suggestions to facilitate the economic growth and impetus to industrial development- like fast tracking various permissions for ease of doing business, subsidy in power tariff, promoting small business along with bigger ones, better execution of affordable housing schemes, helping agriculture growth.

Maharashtra has set a target to become a trillion-dollar economy by 2025 and contribute about one-fifth to the national economy.

The size of the state's economy is a little over 400 billion US Dollars currently.
