Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Monday launched a scathing attack on Union Home Minister Amit Shah, likening him to both an “Anaconda” and “Abdali” during a fiery address at a party function at the NSCI Dome in Worli.

The remarks came during a rally of party functionaries where Thackeray accused the BJP of attempting to “swallow” Mumbai through political manipulation and land grabbing, vowing to resist any such move.

Referring to a report in Saamna, the Shiv Sena (UBT)’s mouthpiece, about a new BJP office allegedly built “by grabbing land in lightning speed,” Thackeray drew a pointed comparison between the ruling party and a recently introduced anaconda at Jijamata

Udyan.

“Just like the anaconda that devours everything in its path, they want to gulp down Mumbai,” Thackeray said, in a veiled reference to Amit Shah and the BJP.

In another sharp jab, Thackeray likened BJP leaders to the Afghan invader Ahmad Shah Abdali, claiming they had “come to capture Mumbai.”

“The real Abdalis have come again, this time from Delhi and Gujarat. But if they try to take our city, their tomb will be built on our soil,” he warned to loud applause.

Thackeray also linked the alleged political and economic “loot” of Maharashtra to historical figures, accusing Morarji Desai, another Gujarati leader, of ordering the shooting of Maharashtrian protestors during his tenure.
