Four youth were killed and two others injured after their car hit a road divider, overturned and collided with a truck on the Pune-Bengaluru National Highway in Maharashtra's Satara district in the wee hours of Tuesday, police said. 

The accident occurred at 1.10 am on the Satara-Pune lane of NH-48 at Shirwal in Khandala tehsil and affected traffic on the busy route, they said. "A car was heading from Pune towards Satara when the driver lost control. The vehicle hit the divider and



overturned, after which it veered into the opposite lane and collided with a truck," a highway police official said.

Four occupants of the car died on the spot. They have been identified as Vedant Arjun Waringe (19), Sonling Dhirendra Thakur (19), Nikhil Balu Raut (20) and Aditya Balasaheb Garud (19), all from Pune district. Two other car occupants, both aged 20 and residents of Kamshet in Pune, sustained injuries and were admitted to a hospital for treatment, the official said.
