At least two Assam Police personnel were killed, and two others sustained injuries after a colleague allegedly opened fire with an AK-47 rifle at a police outpost in Assam’s Kamrup district, officials said on Thursday.
The incident took place late on Wednesday night at the Gamerimura Police Outpost under the jurisdiction of Boko Police Station.
The deceased have
been identified as Fazrul Ali and Indrajit Bora, who was serving as the officer-in-charge of the Gamerimura Police Outpost at the time of the incident.
According to information available so far, the firing was allegedly carried out by a police personnel identified as Chiranjeev Choudhury.
The circumstances that led to the shooting, however, remain unclear.
