Transgender makeup artist and former reality show contestant Jaanmoni Das has publicly apologised for her recent objectionable remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his parentage, saying she had no intention of deliberately hurting anyone.

In a video shared on Instagram, Das said she wanted to publicly apologise if her remarks had hurt anyone and admitted that she should have verified the facts before making the statement.

The celebrity make-up artist’s inappropriate remarks against PM Modi while speaking to a section of media on the students’ protest in New Delhi had triggered widespread outcry on social media

platforms.

“My video has created a huge controversy. I honestly did not realise it would become such an issue. I reacted after watching a content related to the Delhi protest and answered a question posed by the media. Perhaps I could not express myself properly in Malayalam,” she said in her new video posted on Instagram.

Das said she realised the seriousness of the issue only after receiving numerous threatening phone calls and messages from morning onwards.

“I did not understand what had happened initially. Later, some of my friends called and told me it had become a major issue. I immediately requested everyone who had uploaded my video to delete it,” she said.
