Kolkata: In West Bengal, ruling Trinamool Congress has retained power in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation for the third consecutive term by winning 134 out of 144 wards. BJP has won 3 wards while left parties and Congress have won 2 wards each. Independent candidates won in the other 3 wards.
AITC supremo Mamata Banerjee
said a meeting will be held on 23rd December to elect the Mayor. Opposition parties have criticized the state election commission and the state administration for playing partisan roles on the day of polling. Polling was held on 19th December and was marred by stray incidents of violence.
