Tiger Strays Again From Papikondalu, Moves Towards Buttayagudem

The male tiger named ‘Explorer’, released into the Papikondalu Forest Reserve under the Rampachodavaram division as part of "Operation Stripes", has strayed out of the region again. 

It is now said to have wandered and moved towards the Kannapuram forest area at Buttayagudem mandal in the district of Andhra Pradesh. 

The tiger’s presence came to light after locals reported that the tiger attacked and killed two cows near Palakunta Cheruvu in Nimmulagudem, and pug marks were seen at the village on Wednesday morning.

Earlier, the tiger had been



roaming the plains near Gandi Pochamma temple in Devipatnam, which is the main access road to Papikondalu. 

The road was closed due to its presence, leading to a drop in tourist footfall to Papikondalu. Forest officials are closely monitoring the tiger’s movements using a radio collar fitted to the animal and drone cameras.

Local authorities have advised residents not to venture alone into nearby forest areas and to remain cautious, especially at night. 

Public announcements are also being issued via loudspeakers to ensure people's safety.
