IT and Industry Minster KT Rama Rao here at a meeting held at MCR HRD attended by industry bigwigs and associations of handloom and weavers community. KTR said that though 60 lakh cotton bales are being produced in Telangana only 10 lakh of them are being used by the State.
This gap should be plugged with the new policy to see that total cotton produced is used for textile industry through a textile park and help handloom industry. The government will come up with a new Textile Policy to



boost textile and cotton industry in the state giving a major fillip to boost the survival of the weavers and others relying on, the minsiter said. The policy will be rolled out as per Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s directive to see that the textile industry and handloom sector flourish to provide large scale employment opportunities and boost the State economy, he said, adding that KCR has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to lay foundation stone for a textile park in the state.
