Indian Meteorological Department here on Monday issued a severe heat wave warning across the city and various isolated parts of Telangana till May 28.

There was a searing heat wave in Telangana as some areas recorded nearly 45 degrees celsius of temperature on Sunday which was the highest mark in this season.

According to IMD, severe heat waves would continue to prevail in many districts such as Adilabad, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Karimnagar, Mahabubnagar, Hyderabad among others till May 28. As per reports, the maximum temperature can go up to 47 degrees celsius across the state.

The main reason behind the soaring temperatures and dry weather conditions in Telangana is the cyclone amphan that hit the states of West Bengal and Odisha. The cyclone is said to have sucked away all the moisture from the air.

In Telangana, 46.3 degree celsius was the highest temperature recorded in Adilabad while BHEL at Ramachandrapuram in GHMC limits recorded the highest in the city i.e., 44 degree celsius.

Meteorologists at IMD also forecast that the temperature levels might see a slight dip after May 28.
