Tamil Nadu Govt Order Bans Students From Joining CJP, Revokes Later

The Vijay-led TVK government has withdrawn an order banning students from taking part in protests organised by youth movement CJP and leftist organisations. 

Earlier, the Government in Tamil Nadu had banned students of the state from participating in protests organised by the Cockroach Janta Party or Left Wing Student organisations, according



to a government letter by Joint Director of Collegiate Education, Dr. P. Cynthia Selvi.

The letter, dated 17th August 2026, directs to enact inter-departmental and coordinated joint action to prevent students and youth from participating in protests, referring to another government letter dated 14th August. ‘This is very urgent,’ the letter read.
