Chennai: Tamil Nadu government has extended the Covid lockdown till 31st October. The State Government’s  decision to ban political, Social  and cultural festivals and programs of large public gathering which are super spreader events was taken after the suggestion by the National Institute of disaster management under the Union Home Ministry. The letter had also specified that September October months can witness the third wave of Covid



19.

The Chief Minister appealed to the people to celebrate festivals at their homes and follow Covid procedures. Another regulation by the State Government allows only the District Collectors to garland the statues of leaders to commemorate or celebrate their birthdays. Five members of their families, five leaders of registered political parties can participate in the program with Prior approval from the District Collector.
