The CB-CID arrested suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police Y Jaffer Siddique and lodged him in the Vellore Central Prison following a domestic cruelty complaint filed by his wife, officials said on Friday.

Siddique, who had been serving as the Deputy Superintendent of Police for the Paramakudi sub-division in Ramanathapuram district since July, was placed under temporary suspension by the Tamil Nadu Home Secretary in August after the allegations first surfaced.

According to police sources, his wife submitted a

formal complaint to the Director General of Police accusing the officer of maintaining extramarital relationships with multiple women and subjecting her to physical and mental harassment.

The Vellore district police initially registered a case based on the complaint. A CB-CID investigating officer subsequently questioned Siddique at his camp office in Paramakudi on August 22, which led to his immediate suspension. Following a detailed probe into the allegations of torture and infidelity, the CB-CID executed the arrest on Thursday night.
