India on Thursday reiterated that talks and terror cannot go together with Pakistan. 

It said, Pakistan has to create a conducive environment for the talks. 

Replying to a media query in New Delhi, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, there is no proposal of talks at present with the neighbouring country. 

Asked about US imposing second round of sanctions on Iran from next month, the spokesperson said, India has to safeguard it's energy needs. 

New Delhi is in touch with Tehran and Washington on the issue, He said adding that the matter was raised during the visit of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to India. 

The spokesperson said, India is



closely engaged with the US administration on H1-B visa issue. He said, highly skilled Indians have been contributing to the US economy. 

On Maldives, the spokesperson said, in keeping with Neighbourhood First Policy, India is looking forward to working closely with the Maldives for further deepening the partnership. 

He said, India welcomes the acceptance of the verdict of the people in that country. 

The election marks not only the triumph of democratic forces in the Maldives, but also reflects the firm commitment to the values of democracy and the rule of law. 

The spokesperson expressed confidence that the mandate of the people will prevail.
