Supreme Court to pass verdict on Karur stampede on October 13

The Supreme Court will deliver its verdict on October 13 regarding a petition filed by Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the stampede at the actor's political rally in Tamil Nadu's Karur. The September 29 incident resulted in the deaths of 41 people and raised concerns about crowd management and investigative



transparency.

During the hearing on Friday, the Supreme Court said it would pass an order on the plea seeking a CBI investigation into the stampede. The court also asked the Tamil Nadu government to file its response on the same. The plea challenges a Madras High Court order that refused to transfer the investigation to the probe agency and ordered a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe, which the TVK alleged could be biased.
