Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off three new Vande Bharat Express trains, expanding India’s high-speed rail network to 150 trains, and inaugurated the long-awaited Yellow Line of the Bengaluru Metro. He also laid the foundation stone for Bengaluru Metro’s Phase-3, a ₹15,610 crore project that will add 44 km of elevated tracks and 31 new stations.

Beginning his speech with lines in Kannada, the Prime Minister hailed Bengaluru as a symbol of the “new India” and a city that has placed the nation on the global IT map.

He credited its growth to the hard work and talent of its people.

Referring to Operation Sindoor, PM Modi shed light on India’s ability to strike terrorist hideouts deep across the border and compel Pakistan to retreat within hours.

“The success of Operation Sindoor is due to our technology and the power of ‘Make in

India’ in defence. The youth of Bengaluru and Karnataka have contributed a lot to this,” he said.

PM Modi also underlined the government’s infrastructure milestones, metro coverage expanding from five cities in 2014 to over 1,000 km across 24 cities, rail electrification doubling in the past 11 years, and operational airports increasing from 74 to over 160.

He also pointed to the expansion of national waterways and the rise of digital payments, with India now accounting for more than 50% of global real-time transactions via UPI. PM said technology is bridging the gap between government and citizens. “Our effort is to ensure the benefits of the digital revolution reach every person in society. Bengaluru is actively working towards this goal,” he added. Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw attended the event.
