In a moving tribute to the lifelong dedication of their teachers, villagers, former students and members of the school community organised a 20-kilometre ceremonial farewell procession for four retiring teachers of Gogua Government School in Bonai block of Odisha's Sundargarh district.

The unprecedented send-off, held on Wednesday in Gogua village, saw the teachers escorted through several villages in flower-decorated vehicles amid the rhythmic beats of traditional drums and folk music.

Hundreds of local residents, alumni, students and well-wishers joined the procession, turning the farewell into a

celebration of the educators' years of service and their lasting impact on generations of students.

The organisers adorned the vehicles with flowers and accompanied the teachers on the nearly 20-kilometre journey, reflecting the deep respect and affection the community holds for those who shaped the lives of countless children.

“This is an emotional moment for all of us. Over the past three months, the entire team of senior teachers has retired. Their departure marks the end of an era for Gogua School. The institution will now be guided by a new generation of teachers,” said Dushmanta Sahu, a former student.
